Attachment, Loss, and Grief

Death is a natural occurrence that we know will happen, yet are completely unprepared for. We are fully aware of its existence, yet it is still very hard to accept. Our normal reaction to it is of course, we grieve. And it has such a devastating impact on the persons left behind by such tragedy.

Human beings have a natural tendency to be attached to another human. We create strong bonds that we wish would last forever. Unfortunately in this life nothing lasts forever, and we all have to at some point be separated by death. It is just the way it is.

People grieve in many different ways. Some are able to cope after a few weeks, knowing that they have to be strong for their loved ones still living Others though take it badly; they grieve longer and are unable to function well. Some lead to depression. These people may need counsel in order for them to return to normal.
