Four years ago, I tried my hand in business for the first time. I was inexperienced, I was young(er), and I was ready to go, or so I thought. I wanted to have a business of my own. I did not know anything about having my own business then, and I must admit I was excited AND scared at the same time. So I tried my hand at franchising a business.
Food carts were the in thing those days, and I think they still are. They are easy to put up and you have people teaching you what to do. That is their selling point after all. I shelled out quite a sum, confident that soon after that, I can retire from my day job. I was wrong.
Not all franchises are created equal. Some sell, some do not. Unfortunately, mine did not. I soon closed it down, charging everything to experience.
